Everyone knows I have nothing important to say. This is where I showcase my unimportantness.

New Sidewalks

WKU, just like any university, is constantly under construction. There is nothing prettier than a freshly poured concrete sidewalk covering what was once ugly grass. It sounds as if I'm being sarcastic, but really - a clean sidewalk is nice to look at. It amazes me that there are people who do not like the look of a clean, white sidewalk. Within a day or two of the sidewalks opening to pedestrians, they already look like dalmations.

I blame all the idiots who scare people by saying swallowing your gum is bad for you. I have swallowed gum hundreds, probably thousands of times. I'm just fine. Now all the people who get tired of the gum just spit it on the sidewalk. Who spits gum on the sidewalk? How lazy can you get. I also should blame the gum makers for not making a gum with everlasting flavor. But still, people would get bored of chewing and where would it go? On a freshly finished sidewalk. If you're reading this, don't spit your gum out on the sidewalk, go for the grass or a trash can. Sure, it might be easier to step in if it's in the grass - but that's what sidewalks are for. Let the grass flourish and thrive - stay on the sidewalks.

That's all I have to say for now. Thanks for understanding.

Green Day

Today ended up being a sort of high school reunion. First running into Mary Tomkins at the mall, then heading on down to Nashville with Matthew for the big concert. There I saw Josh & gang, along with Paige Priest and Ashley Poss. Digressing from the high school people, I saw wku Reid at the concert in some very nicely positioned seats. Jealous? I am. We were pretty daggum close to the stage, but we had to stand the whole time - and I don't like standing. After the concert, which was just amazingly awesome, went to Steak N Shake where I saw John Smith, who told me to say hey to Sarah G, so if you read this Sarah, he says hi. Digressing once again from the high school people, Jonathan Cody from my Western Civ. class came into the Rivergate Steak N Shake for a bit, too.

So that's all the people I saw. Ol' Billie Joe pleasured himself in front of thousands of people, they started a rock band on stage and the bass chick was lovin' it, her pants even started falling off. The first little guitar boy (12 years old) didn't know how to play the guitar but Billie Joe gave him the guitar for the fun of it. And basically one of my favorite songs, Good Riddance, was perfect.

I have an advising appointment at 9:10 in the morning, so I should think about going to bed. Everyone have a good one.

Trapt

I'm not sure if anyone remembers this band or not, but they're pretty much awesome in concert. They played on campus tonight in Diddle Arena with Aphasia (I'm not really sure if that's who they were) and Blindside opening for them. Anyhow - Trapt sings that song 'Headstrong' which was amazing. I'm not really sure if they're popular anymore or not, but that's a good song in my book.

For now my voice is struggling and my throat hurts when I yawn, so that calls for some food at 12.30. Then maybe reading some poetry for my english class followed by sleeeeep.

Oh yeah, I walked out of my microeconomics class today 15 minutes into it and wished everyone good luck for the rest of the semester. That's right, I'm dropping it.

Fall Break 2005

I don't think I could have ever imagined how much fun I would have volunteering in the Gulf Coast over my fall break. I met so many new people - all of which were very interesting in their own way. We left on Wednesday for what should have been an 8 or so hour drive, but it took us 12 hours to get there thanks to several stops and a 2 hour dinner at O'Charleys. That's okay though because the money went to the hurricanes, so basically we were all about helping out the hurricane victims on this trip. We slept on concrete floors each night and 29 people shared 5 showers. It was amazing how few people snored in the room - I really felt bad.

Our first day we went to a house close to Pascagoula, Mississippi. The neighborhood looked like a warzone. At one point all the houses were flooded up to 5 feet on the inside, so we tore down all the walls, made sure everything was out of the house and in the trash, took up carpet, linoleum, tile, tore out toilets, sinks, cabinets, pretty much everything but the ceilings and the framing. The people we helped out each day seemed very grateful and helped out right alongside with us. One day the Red Cross even came by and fed all of us. The barbeque they had was delicious. To any of the people that were on the trip and might be reading this - I'm glad I met every single one of you. We should go volunteer some other time! Or at least holler at me when you see me around campus.

You can check out the pictures I took over the trip
- not too many, but I relied on all the other people that took picturs while there. Hopefully I'll get more from them soon. Anyhow, it's great being back home, but kind of sad having to go back to class and all that jazz. Again, check out the pictures and see how things are.

Fall Break

I got my tetanus shot yesterday along with my first dose of the hepatitis a/b shot. Tomorrow I'm going to be leaving the school at about noon (getting to skip my 2 classes, mind you) and heading down to Mobile, Alabama in a 15 passenger van. I'm hoping they aren't seriously going to cram 15 people in there for an 8 hour ride. But if they do, I'm sure it will be worth it. We'll be going 45 minutes each day to Pascagoula, Mississippi to work on houses that were damaged in the hurricane and sort through donations to be given out.

I've never done anything like this so when I heard about it I thought when else would I be able to take 5 days to volunteer my time to help others. That's right, this is probably the only time in my life where I'll have that luxury, so I'm taking full advantage of it. I'll hopefully get some pictures, supposedly the place we're going wasn't hit quite as hard as places further west, but I'm sure it will be quite the experience to say the least.

Anyhow, I need to go to Wal-Mart and get a few things for the trip. Hopefully all you WKU people have a great fall break, and everyone else - enjoy classes/work/whatever you do. Be safe!

Dine For America

Thought I'd point out that on Wednesday, October 5 many restaurants are going to be donating all of their profits or a percentage of their profits to the Red Cross hurricane relief effort, or Dine For America . . . Go here and click on the state you're in to see a participating restaurant.

This is a great way to donate money to the victims of this hurricane season. You get to enjoy a nice meal while your money that you would normally be giving to the restaurant goes to an even better cause.

Pizza Pizza

Maaan, I finally made it on a German test. This is my second semester in German and Tim (my professor, that's right we're on a first name basis) had never written my name into a test. Today that all changed. The sentece said something about 'Evan and Kody mochte Bier trinken.' Or something like that - I probably got the question wrong, but that doesn't matter - I made it on the test!!

It's a weekend, and pretty much everyone has gone home . . . this is a suitcase college, as Marjorie Yambor pointed out. But that's besides the point. I finally got around to trying some pizza from Firehouse Pizza . . . delicious. As good as it was, it still doesn't beat Pizza Perfect in the Hillsboro Village area of Nashville. Mmm Mmm Good. Don't sue me Campbell's.

Wow, I'm tired and I have nothing to talk about. I'm gonna go to bed now. I love you all. Have a good one.
